What to wear?

I have no fashion sense. This is not a boast, more of an admission of guilt. I wear black. Lots of black. Things have been thus for many years. I figure that black suits me and doesn’t draw too much attention to the fact that I can barely find things that don’t look terrible on me. The thing is, tomorow night I ill be accompnying my lady to a house party. Now, I am looking forward to the party and the chance to catch up with friends and have a few laughs, but it does fill me with a certain amount of dread.

What to wear?

I could go in my usual ensemble of geek themed shirt, open shirt over that, and black jeans or combats, but wouldn;t that seem rude? I should make some kind of effort, but effort on my appearence is something I am not too adept at, thanks to the lack of hair and the lack of style. I blame being far more interested on the inside than the outside. Maybe I should go festooned in tinsel and baubles. Or perhaps in drag. Maybe I should dress as the Doctor. Oh, wait, I already did that at a party.

I’ve bought a number of new garments of late, and am sure I will fling a few together into something resembling an outfit, but the simple fact that I am completely cack-handed with my outward appearence remains constant. Hpefully people will be far too drunk to care.

Then again, they are my friends so it won’t matter anyway. They are far more interested in people than clothes and labels. That’s pretty damn festive, all told. Here’s to friends.

I might request it...

haha, that would be brilliant. i was a pretty hardcore billy joel fan once, if such a thing is possible. in the 80's (i was pretty young) i used to confuse him with elton john because they both played the piano. today i might be a bigger fan of elton john, i don't know. i still like both of them enough.

As it happens I'm wearing my Epic Fu shirt today ;) Ive committed a fair few fashion crimes being part of the Industrial/metal scene locally, but am thankfully maturing now. Changing the colour of the shirts I wear has been about as extreme as I've got this past year- subdued colours suit me so green, charcoal and khaki seem to do the trick. You're right, people do copy each other, no matter how much they may deny it.

Regarding the video (and Youtube), I haven't set my country preferences, not that it probably matters, and am able to view pretty much anything. I should test that though really. I'm always rather suspicious of people who disallow embedding- isn't the point of putting content up on there to get people to see it wherever they are? Bah.

Speaking of embedding, this song is no doubt going to be stuck in my head all day now. Roll on the party tonight. I might request it...

well you start with an epic fu shirt...

okay, seriously, anything but wearing one solid color. some people can pull that off, they're not right for you though. start by wearing a different color pair of trousers or a different color shirt (the epic fu shirts are green...) and then if you like that, perhaps it will inspire more. if you walk out of your home with too many strange looks in your directions, go back inside and try again. i honestly believe what everyone else does is copy each other, just not exactly. i always wear the same kinds of stuff and never bother with fashion, but apart from my clothes being boring i'm not committing any major fashion crimes.

other than that i kind of feel like this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpuLnMUpMdU

at least that was relevant, but you probably won't be able to see it because you're in the uk, and sony bmg (almost certainly) blocks any non-us viewers. my suggestion is to boycott all youtube channels that disallow embedding on other websites. i shouldn't have to check your profile to see if you can watch a video on youtube.
