MIX

I wanted to start something fun since I listen to basically a new album almost every day. I thought this could be a fun way of spreading new music.

Basically I will post a new album everyday with a couple notes and a link to listen. Everyone is free to join in and post the album you are listening to for that day.

Name one favorite song and why it was. Include the artist/band name, album title, year, how you would describe the genre, album cover if you got it, & purchase/download Link.

If someone started a thread for that day, just reply to that days thread and keep the music a spreadin' =P

Listening to Modeselektor album (2007) "Happy Birthday" today. Ever heard of eurocrunk?
"A type of music typified by it's use of wobbly baselines, 8-bit crunch, and Crunk-esqe beats".

He does a track with Thom Yorke called "The White Flash". It starts off like a Busta Ryhmes track and radically changes at 30 seconds into something rad.

Today I am listening to Dj Vadim: (1999) USSR: Life From The Other Side. I would call this Russian turntablist goes eclectic, and drops an underground hip-hop classic straight from the 90's.

Listening to this album brings me back to the day when my mother dropped a Warren G Regulators cassette my bed. So far my favorite track is "Shikko - The Affirmers Of The New Art" as it's just so chill something ya dip ya head too. If you like old old skoo hip-hop you may like this album. Take a listen via the link below.

Today I am listening to Alva Noto album Transvision. To be honest it's not that much of an album but something for a Dj to scratch and make some lovelies with if you get my drift. =P The cool part about this dude though is he pursues an interest in the theoretical properties of sound and space. Most of his work is also accompanied by a visual element.

Search his name on youtube.com

I needed a change today so I tried this Disco/Dance/Surreal album by Kelly Polar titled "Love Songs of the Hanging Gardens". (2005)

The cover is very NeverEndingStory eh? heh This album is mouse on mars + milosh + some disco love. My fav track so far is "Ashamed of Myself" as its just straight up funky.

Dan Deacon's zany noise synth-pop makes me dance ridiculous. =P I've been listening to his album today titled Spiderman of the rings (2007).

So far my favorite track is Pink Batman and that does not mean anything else.. in fact I wonder why he calls it Pink Batman but.. That's just Dan. I guess? heh

I also like Snake Mistake at 2:29. I made it my ring tone for the day.

Check it out.

Listened to Chihei Hatakeyama album " Minima Moralia" (2006). A very nature-esque ambient electronica album. Perfect for a Saturday afternoon with the breeze blowing and the sun shining.

I really enjoyed the track "Swaying Curtain in the Window". The guitar was a very pleasant surprise.

I wanted something a little more upbeat today and so I am checking out the Metamatics album (2002) "From Death to Passwords Where You're a Paper Airplane".

If you looking for a slightly upbeat chill electronic album to relax to on Sunday, this would be it.

My favorite song so far is "Colmic Zeus" being the most playful song on the album. still unsure what colmic is besides a place..

Today I am listening to a Tristeza album I never knew existed. It's a very kicked back EP with great acoustics and transitions. I really loved it all but if I had to choose... a... song..

Living Stains was my favorite track. It was upbeat and put me in a really good mood.

Check it out.

Checking out something to match the sunny weather. Listening to Be OK (2008) by Ingrid Michaelson I was in the car with @lauralovesart last night and I heard this CD. As soon as I got home I downloaded the Cd but resisted to listen until today heh It's very acoustic and folk+happy music.

I really enjoyed the song "Keep Breathing". It was so refreshing.

Check her out.

I was completely unaware The Presets had a newer album out. Today I am listening to Apocalypso by The Presets (2208) They are one of my FAVORITE free iTunes downloads. Mind you 94% of those are BS. If I was to describe them it would be electronic + leftfield. They sometimes do something unexpected but mix it with the dancy sense.

This album is much more dancy than the previous but I like it. My favorite track thus far is "Aeons". It was just so relaxing and zen. I am sure I will like one of the dancy tracks later but right now I am in chill mode. =)

Check em out.

Well I have the 2006 80 GB classic & the 32GB iPod touch both sound qualities are great but I must agree about the classic being better. I've been getting alot positive feedback about Sennheiser so I'll give it a shot. Thanks for the info!
