Earlier this evening (Thursday Dec. 4th) Justine Ezarik aka iJustine did a blog post on a person that claimed twitter.com is not a blog. (Click her name to read the post)
Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service, that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.
Updates are displayed on the user's profile page and delivered to other users who have signed up to receive them.

Micro-blogging is a form of multimedia blogging that allows users to send brief text updates (say, 140 characters or fewer) or micromedia such as photos or audio clips and publish them, either to be viewed by anyone or by a restricted group which can be chosen by the user. These messages can be submitted by a variety of means, including text messaging, instant messaging, email, MP3 or the web.
The content of a micro-blog differs from a traditional blog due in that it is typically more topical, smaller in aggregate file size (e.g. text, audio or video) but is the same in that people utilize it for both business and individual reasons. Many micro-blogs provide this short commentary on a person-to-person level, or share news about a company's products and services.

i don't think there's any way around it. twitter has more in common with blogging than chat rooms, forums, and traditional personal websites. the question is, if it's not blogging, what is it? since ijustine doesn't quote the person who made the claim, i assume they either don't know what twitter is, or they do, and they meant it in the, "if you don't go to church, you're not a christian" sense of "it's not a blog."
well I think (tubejay) culture over aquisition answered this pretty good. I use it but I wouldnt think of it as a blog but I guess technically it is considered a micro-blog.
It's a microblog, for micro-throughts. Not the traditional blog, but just the blog between blogs, if that makes sense.
It's a blog technically, but don't expect anything out of it. just like a blog/IM hybrid
good going with the build man, I dunno if you carved the stuff out beforehand, but this kinda reminds me of when Queen's Brian May built his "red Special"

Heard a bit of chiptune-age in there... did you get the audio from .XM files by any chance?
What I was referring to, was that the way that this "could" move forward, was that people might be able to search for info about any random person through taking a photograph in the street, they don't even have to be famous.
