On this week's show we talk a lot about change. Generally we all can find a way to make due with the things we're less than happy with. Either that, or we find a way to change them. I know that I wish we owned a home instead of paying rent, but that's just small potatoes. Think big:

If you could change one thing about your life, what would it be?

don't laugh, but i'd be slightly more materialistic.

it's not that i care about material things so much, but that if i had them, i could share more of them. there's a lot i can share in the way of effort and ideas, and i'm proud of some of them, and yet for instance, if i had a lot of money, i could fund your show, let you control which commercials were featured, keep them to a minimum, and keep the show free for everybody else.

i would be very proud to be able to do that. the problem is, i'm not (just yet) materialistic enough to be able to. i could probably be just a little more in it for the money. also, i would go back and explain this to myself about 10 years ago. there should be time to change it, but change isn't easy, particularly when it involves changing your perspective.

i'd be very happy to be making 250,000 or more a year, keeping less than half of it, and seeing a lot of it go towards helping sick people in my own country and funding research and aid abroad, rather then spending it on cheap crap from walmart and having it fund slave labor and illegal wars.

yachts and rolexes and cristal are fine if you're throwing a boat party for larry craig, but yachts are too much like islands, and no man is one. i could still be a non-island making more money, the difference is how i would spend it. to paraphrase sam duckworth: get wealth share wealth live. it's not the wealth that makes you happy, it's the sharing, i believe.

Be more decisive.

Be less distracted and lazy. Although I suppose that would lead me to being more sucessful in my endevours. So that would also change my other thing which would be my career.

I'd like to have more determination and use that determination to do something that will make me feel proud of myself. My parents have always congratulated me and been there for me with everything I've done, but I've never really been proud of myself. I got a 23 on the ACT--they were proud, but I wondered "what could I do to get a 24 or 25 or 26?". I graduated 4th out of my entire class--they were proud, but I wondered "what didn't I do to become 1st?" I know it sounds crazy, but I've never been proud of that stuff (even know I some people hope and pray to get things like that in school). I think I'll never be proud of myself until I do what I want to do which is write a best-seller, create a box-office-smashing movie or even an awesome web-show like "Epic Fu". Basically anything in entertainment. I always tell my brother, "One day you're gonna see me accepting an award for 'Movie of the Year'" or something like that, but then I turn around and just go watch TV or surf the 'nets. I know I don't have that drive and determination to get out there and get my name known and I seriously need to change that. I want validation from the entire world. It's a little vain, but that's what I'd like to change.

people get awards for making movies. when they make movies to get awards, the movies turn out crappy.

something to keep in mind when you're thinking about recognition. i'd rather make a good movie than get an award for a lousy one. that way even if i don't get an award, at least i'll know a made a good movie. if you don't know that for yourself, the award will just make you wonder why people liked it.

That does make sense. I guess that I just want to do something that I can be proud of. I just want to say, "I did that. And it's awesome". I've never really felt that way about anything I've done because I think I've always tried to meet what I thought was everyone else's expectations. I guess that's another thing I'd like to change about my life. I'm gonna stop putting desires on the back burner and finally concentrate on what I feel I should do with my life. I want to do something that makes a difference in my life and hopefully in somebody elses. The desire for the glory's still there too, but it's not as strong after a little consideration. Thanks Tubejay.

1. I would change the laws about DRM (Maybe even get rid of it). That stupid thing makes so if I want to buy something from iTunes and I do buy, I'm technically just renting. I hate that law.

2. Win the Lottery so I could fund the show, fund sister's college payments, help with helping abandoned animals, etc...

3. Bring The Beatles back to life.

Those are a few things I would do.

I would work harder at the things I want to succeed at and focus more. I would not waste so much time with nonsense.

1) I would have kept MLK in the Hotel Room. I would have sent out Jessie Jackson. ( :-) )
2) I would have stopped Hitler in Poland
3) I would have... oh wait... MY LIFE...

I would have taken more chances with my love life. I wouldn't have played it as safely as I did. I would have been more happy and more sad over the changes I would have done.

I would have bought AMD stock right after they cloned the first 8086 (like I really wanted to).

I would have tried to enjoy life without credit cards.

Yeah seriously. If we could go back and save a person..MILK all the way. Read his book- Chaos or Community, Where Do We Go From Here. He was on to something big right when they killed him. It's out of print but you can find copies online.

I agree, MLK was an incredible man and died way, way before his time. It annoys me that people often don't even really consider his national holiday to be a "real" holiday. I think it should be celibrated even more than stupid holidays like Colombus Day. Why does Colombus get a fricken' parade? MLK is the one that deserves a parade!

I often wonder what else MLK could have accomplished if he didn't die when he did.
