MIX

this week there was no prime real estate for winterbells because of all the faked scores. what can we do about this problem so that we can keep playing games? should we just do away with the prime real estate and play for fun?

The high score board for Jared's win at Scenic was pretty good, although not all cool games have them.

I think the fakery started for fun like "Ah you faked a highscore, well then I'll fake a higher one" .... But for sure we can appeal to the fun side of Mix Community and ask them to play for the fun of it! Finally fake scores will come to be known .....

The other thing is to get games that record high scores ... but that's more difficult so I guess we just need to play for the fun of it and submit our real scores so we can keep having fun every week.

One problem with this is that we would all require a screen capture software just to play the game, if your on windows fine (there are many free screen capture programs)... but for me being on a mac, i have been looking for months for a free screen capture program which is mac compatible (not happening). So, great idea, but its much harder than it seems.

What about screentoaster?
It still makes the problem of having to watch all these videos, and on top of that, getting your best score in one go (unless there's a high score setting in the game) but kills the immediate fakery.

screentoaster sounds intriguing thanks. You have a very valid point. Who is going to actually sit down and watch every individual videos (even if the go for 2 seconds) it would become very annoying.

Very easy solution to this problem.

Instead of screen capture have the picture be from a cell phone or camera... pixel distortion would be much harder.

everyone has a cellphone camera of digital camera they can snap pics of..

plus with your wicked smart "options" when posting a picture people can click on to have access to the true size image and spot fakes quicker/ easier

.. bad luck about the mix-user above not having their brilliance recognised

Once easy way around this is to just have your -shopped picture displayed on the computer, don't know a way around that one :(

again (i hate to be the baddie in this thread) but it can be hard for people without a phone that can send pics to their computer. Yes we can send it via a message in email, but that costs, and for someone that only has a prepaid account that would waste too much of my money.

yeah, games where the site records scores seems best.

I am agreeing with a few people on this thread, the optimal choice would probably be to find games that have a private scoreboard. It seems like the only way... but you never know, another way might be found =).
