This week's campfire discussion is around the Anonymous vs. Scientology war happening online. Anonymous is planning something for Feb. 10 that looks like a protest, but they have also attacked various Scientology websites. What is each side doing wrong here? How about doing right?
Thank you. I show that to anyone who has ever said anything supportive of Scientology.
Another good site is www.ronthenut.org. It documents what a psycho Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. He's also very similar to Adolf Hitler in his beliefs. The only difference is his approach is to use Religion over Politics.
just crossed my mind: there is NO Scientology vs "the Internet". As far I can see there is only some boys attacking websites. any information about Scientology defending?
You're right. We are the underdogs here. Being anonymous, we have no law portion to our attacks, so no lawyers. this means it is harder to attack without the courts.
Honestly, the whole anonymous vs. scientology thing is starting to scare me. The line between right and wrong is starting to blur and I don't know what to think anymore. Both groups seem more evil than good to me.

As long as Scientology is brought to light, we could care less of how we were represented. We have already been called every name imaginable by the press. We do not care. We are something greater than anyone person could ever be. Go ahead and think of us as what ever you will, as long as Scientology is being brought to light, we have no problem with it.
Bad press to us generates lulz.
Bad press to Scientology, well thats something that can hurt them.
I think what anonymous is doing is the only line of defence that the general public has against a group that uses oppressive and illegal tactics in suppressing any form of criticism directed at them. Ultimately, the more information that gets out to the public about the true face of scientology the better. I for one am more scared of publicly criticising scientology than what I am of al quaeda! What legitimate religion copyrights their religious writings and charges you tons of money to gain access to it???
If you really want to, you can have their teachings for free online. there is no point as it is a scam. "I'd like to start a religion. That's where the money is" said by L. Ron Hubbard.
This man was a maniac, and was incarcerated in mental institutions multiple times. he drove his second wife in a bigamous marriage to suicide to avoid divorce. He created the "church" to gain money. he gained over $200 million from it. The fact that the church still exists is astounding, and the fact that it is ACCEPTED in society is insane.
Annonymous isnt any kind of good. This is the first time I have seen annonymous on such a wide scale but they are and will allways be, web terrorists. They are not doing this for any reason besides the fact that they can firstly get away with it, and secondly that it will show people exactly who annonymous are. It just so happened that they (or a single individual, as with the group is sometimes hard to dicern) decided that instead of a helpless individual they would attack the church of scientology, They have RUINED peoples lives, they attach themselves like parasites and destroy a person in any way you can think of besides physical attack.
however this is not to defend the church of scientology, they are a cult and thats what it boils down too.
As for febuary 10th, this sounds like they are planning on a huge Denial of service attack or a complete hack of the Scientology website. They are just saying "hey everyone, if we do this all at once THEN it will have a stronger effect" They will not stage any kind of protest or rally beacuse the 'nature' of annoymous it self is illegal. There is nothing legal about annonymous and a simple rally or protest is " "beneath" " them.
