I just cant seem to grasp what it is that makes my life meaningfull. I know certain things that make me happy, but just not what I feel I should be doing you know? So im asking, what is it that you "MiXers" do, that makes you feel your moving in the right direction.

I think all the challenge makes my life fun. That's why I stopped calling it 'challenge' and switched to 'roller coaster' instead. It's scary, unknown, but is thrilling to ride. Plus, I think that if you're not scared, you're probably not pushing yourself to the limit.

Creation is important for me, but I also care about the ideation behind it.

The last thing that makes my life meaningful is the time to meander. Today we're living a life that's full of destinations, assignments and thoughts, so we forget to meditate, wander around and do nothing. I'm talking about road trips to nowhere, warm bubble baths, and those moments where you're half-sleep and half-awake. I think that we need more of those because a meaningful life must delicately balance the amount of noise and silence in it. Kind of like yin–yang or something.

I jut came across this blog that may add some insight to the discussion as people respond:
Visualize Possiblities.

I know my life is in the groove aka meaningful when:
- i see beauty just about anywhere
- i feel connected to others, even the strangest of others
- it doesn't matter how much sleep i've had or not
- i am not worrying about others, but instead trusting that we are all safe, ultimately.

So how do I get there?
- putting myself first; that way i can be most available to myself and others
- believeing that we are incredibly free here to try just about anything - and deal with the consequences.
- knowing who I am and who I am not, and working towards to the former, away from the latter.

Thanks for the question Andy.

A Calvin and Hobbes strip I've got in one of my many books at base-camp home* has a strip where Calvin questions why we create, the various reasons he can think of and then asks "or is it just to stop us getting bored?" albeit somewhat more eloquently worded.

Personally I spend lots of my time trying to create things, to pass the time and distract me from my loneliness.

*(I live in Edinburgh, effectively, but wherever I go, base-camp remains the same, hehe)

hmmm. thoughtful words by Calvin and Hobbes. One of the best strips ever.

To keep from getting bored... does that mean that our base nature is boredom? I'd like to think it's curiosity...

Well, the way I see it is that many of us are curious, but others are either intimidated by new things and experiences or prefer the boredom of a long-term routine life.

I know I get bored easily, but I'm also curious.
M'eh, the theory needs a bit of work!

i dont think our base nature is boredom, in my mind I see it as just "being content". meaning not really going out of your way at the moment to excite yourself, but not in such a low state that its depressing.

then, like what was said before, curiosity, as well as other things, excite or bring down your "level of life"

yeah....i dunno...but i think that our base-nature is almost trait-less, as in content....if i make any sense.....

there the level of life, thats where i feel meaning needs to be and if its to create then its to create. it seems that this is the main the we as a people do is create. create books create buildings create new technologys create new life but we also create in a negative way create punishments create wars create villans but no matter what we create. it just seems like our reason is Creating

Anything I can do to improve the life of others is huge to me. If all I do is make only one persons day better, I'll try to do that. Personally music and art are my little joys. That, and fighting the man. :P
