MIX

Before I start ranting on in this discussion, can I just say Sony's Customer Services department (in Europe at least) hold the title for the best dealings I've ever had with any customer services. So big thanx ladys & gents at the Sony crew...

Anyways, it was Tuesday night and I was happily playing away Fifa 09 when to my horror, my PS3 died. All of a sudden, no picture, no sound, just three beeps and a flashing red light. While sweating over the user guide, I found a section that said the problem I had meant it had overheated, and simply needed to rest and then everyting would be hunky dorey. So I left it for an hour, and tried to restart. But all that happended was a brief start up light, and then back to the flashing red light of death. After searching the net and many different forums, I got the answer to my issue. It was dead as a door nail. I called Sony while biting my finger nails coz I knew the PS3 came with a 1 year warranty, and I got it on launch day (March 07 i think). So in my mind, I knew I was screwed. But amazingly, those beautiful ppl at Sony said they would send me a refurbished, fully working PS3...free of charge! To my doorstep! Apparently the amount of dodgy PS3's ever sold stands at 1%. And if you ask me, thats a pretty good reliability rate! Anyway, got my refurb today (very quick) and it looks brand new. Plus they chucked in a copy of Fifa for good measure...

But I guess what I want to find out from you guys is, whats the best deal you have got from a company that has sold you a product that hasn't stood the test of time? And whats the worst? Sony could have easily told me that its past warranty and I would have shell out another £300 to replace it... and I would have done it.. but to give me a replacement for free is fantastic. Hmmm, I wonder if Microsoft would do the same... ;) (sorry for the long post)

That is awesome! I just bought a PS3 so that is a VERY big relief to me.

I don’t have a story of Awesome customer service off the top of my head, although there have been occasions that I have been very impressed with a company, So I will tell you about the worst customer service that I have ever received.
Unfortunately, I think that the biggest problem that I have ever had is with a laptop that I bought from HP. It was supposed to be the best but turned out to be the worst. It all started when after 3 weeks of having it with no problems, it started crashing and freezing at some of the most simple tasks. It was really embarrassing when I had to do a school presentation and it won’t even load the program and that I had to inconvenience the professor to allow me to redo the presentation. The problem became exacerbated as the weeks progressed and it turned out to be the Motherboard. Which they did not know at first. Anyway, over the course of the year I kept going back and forth with HPs customer relations department (which does not have a direct line - so you have to go through India for 30 minutes before they will connect you. - Even if you explain the situation and that you have spoken to them a dozen times in the last two months, they still insist on taking you through the steps of power-cycles and status screens. Very frustrating!) Eventually I took it in to them a couple of times and that they said they would not replace the laptop until I had taken it to them 3 times and ONLY if they could not diagnose the problem (after all it could have been my fault it was faulty- they said) So after all this, The laptop is beyond it's warranty and they will absolutely NOT replace it now, I will simply have to purchase a new laptop and that they can help me with that. Can you believe it?!? So I told her that they will never again get my business after all of this. From now on, when I buy a laptop, I am going to buy a MAC.
