Well, if you want to react to the announcement, here's the place.
Personally, i didn't expect that at all. I mean, when Steve said major changes, that wasn't even in my radar. Then again, I've been out of the loop for a while. Economy isn't going well down there. Neither is it up here in Canada tho.. And to say that the worse isn't passed yet. sigh.
But with that said, I hope the best for everyone in the Epic-fu crew, and good luck to its former member! Love the show, keep it going, you have the fans behind you, watching and loving what you're doing ^^

Rev3 blew it. If you've watched their actions over the last few months, it appears they've spent a lot of money: acquiring shows, upgrading the look of their site, having contests and parties to discover new talent and celebrate their "success", sharing this all constantly online of course. They saw a good thing in EpicFu, announced a partnership a few months ago, then have to immediately dissolve the partnership because it turns out the good times over there are a facade. The announcement yesterday, the timing, the wording, as well as out of the blue nature, just made the the company to appear very poorly managed. I believe they actually did EpicFu and PopSiren a favor yesterday by releasing them.
It's interesting though. It doesn't matter if its old or new media. When the shizz hits the fan no actor/director/producer/talent never has anything negative to say about the other party. This is because success is about luck just as much as it is about hard work. And though rev3 (or some other company ) might have the worst people in the world managing them, they still may fail upwards through circumstance. And if that happens, creative people want to stay networked with those people/companies, as they may need each other again at some point. ( a mutually beneficial relationship with rev3 may yet again arise: (company A needs shows to distribute for its channels, company B happens to make a kick-ass show with huge viewership but could use some distribution help)).
But I'm a huge fan of EpicFu. Based on my observations I question rev3's handling of the Fu. And I'm not concerned with fame and not involved with new/old media, so I have no problem saying Rev3 sucks, they really blew it yesterday. :)
That said. They did the Fu a favor. EpicFu deserves to be with a company that can give it the love, respect, and $$$ it deserves. Long Live The Fu!

Surely they didn't do the best thing regarding their viewers. They for sure want to keep the company going in the long term and it surely will because it has big shows like Diggnation and TRS, but i think that the best answer to tough would have been applying a different strategy to each show as they go to different type of viewers. Of course some may watch 2 or 3 shows, but that would be the intersection in a Venn Diagram not a whole set of people. So they needed to use different strategies for different shows.
I hope they get a strategic correction done quickly.
And regarding Epic Fu ...no matter where you guys are I'll still be watching!

sad news guys, but we wish you all the best even if we have to send you guys pay pal donations to keep you going. 2 minute noodles are also your friend!
zadi really summed it up -- MIX has been, and always will be, the heart and soul of the show. without you guys it just wouldn't happen the same way, so you deserve as much collective credit as anyone.
we're not bitter about the whole rev3 thing. we understand why they made the decisions they did. what's sad is that when a company like rev3 falters, it affects independent online video tremendously. we're all trying to avoid re-making the same old system, and rev3 is a really important part of that effort. we need companies like them to succeed in order to improve the industry for all of us, including the viewers.
the crummiest part is having to lay off people. rick rey was a huge part of the show and we have to find a way to make up for losing him. daniel was really getting comfortable adding his own stamp to the show, and having sarah on camera was like a breath of fresh air for us. i'm really hoping we can find a way to work with them again soon.
we're confident we'll find a new way to make a living off of the show. and we'll definitely keep you guys in the loop as things develop. we're looking at this as a chance to have a whole new bunch of opportunities presented to us around making the show and find a great partner. it's just a bump in the road! :)
now i have to go publish today's show with tim and eric from adult swim! w00t!
I finally get to leave my Sheisse-Buche of a home town in Scotland and go to work in the middle of the gulf of Thailand. Then the very next day, this happens to my favorite online show! :(
I’m just back on terra non-metallica today, and staying in the Coastal town of Songkhla (sp?) for a few days before I do another stint on an offshore structure somewhere
When does this take effect from? Is this immediate or from a certain future date?
This is sad, sad news for me to take. I’ve only been in the fu and the “new media” loop since may just before the Fu/rev 3 partnership was announced and this run has been very sweet. I remember when I got my first fix clearly, It started when I watched a video of This constructed NES controller on “the tube”, then somehow the Fu/jetset episode “halo 3 mania” was linked to from it.
I got made aware of revision 3 overall though Fu, and whilst it certainly has its critics as to how it is run. It has no doubt Kept me entertained and informed through it’s other shows that I really like. Of which I include Tekzilla, Diggnation, Systm, and Internet superstar in addition to the Fu. And I’ve also made it a point to download/watch every episode of these shows released to date since I like them that much.
Also based on that announcement, Martin sergeant may really have to use “absolutely no resources” when doing further shows though. Which I also find a shame because he & his show are Piss Funny (plus thus far it has given me new women to lust and perv over in the “gator’s Gals” section :P ) !! Martin’s an absolute talented comedy Legend in the making and he must get back onto the spotlight soon. In either new or old media :D.
So What next for Fu/smashface? Back to “next new networks” perhaps =/ ?, hopefully there’s still some love there, and you were once described as their “jewel in the crown” before the move to rev 3. If the departure from there wasn’t sour then it will do no harm to ask :)
when i read this (and your blog about working in thailand) i thought "oh, man, laurence is gonna be livid when he finds out about r3)
i prefer to think that the r3 thing (it only began in the summer?) was a mistake no one knew about, and that the fu is actually moving towards something better, rather than mere uncertainty as it presently appears.
Some of the music are indeed chiptunes made by my friend. If I remember correctly, all of them are .IT files. I´ve been thinking about possibility put some of them at the website of Discasting, but at first I have to talk about it with the compose...

Heard a bit of chiptune-age in there... did you get the audio from .XM files by any chance?
What I was referring to, was that the way that this "could" move forward, was that people might be able to search for info about any random person through taking a photograph in the street, they don't even have to be famous.

actually, zadi is the main act. and nothing against zadi- because she's the greatest video host that ever was, in my opinion.

This is Zadi and Steve place. When they are here, people come to visit. When they are not here, I don't believe all the devoted fans in the world (they are worldwide) can keep this place running. All the comments, photos, blogs, etc, are very nice...
