According to Eric Schlosser; the author of Fast Food Nation, and Steve White, a former coordinator for the US drug enforcement administration's cannabis eradication program, marijuana is now America's number one cash crop with plausible estimates at 25 billion dollars a year!

Whatever your feelings about marijuana; with the United States economy in such crisis, and billions of dollars spent fighting a war on a crop the citizens of this country have embraced, it is time we took a good hard look in the mirror, came clean about this "shadow economy," and enact a policy that makes sense.

Maybe make it legal and drop a few taxes on it?, replace shady inflated assets placed on mortage bonds with weed bonds?, weed represents a pretty solid money inversion, might help solve the economy crisis and all XD

Might be a good way to get that 700 billion back you guys are thinking of spending

Legalization isn't an answer within itself, but if you take a look at Eric Schlosser's new book entitled REEFER MADNESS: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in The American Black Market, he postulates that pornography, marijuana, and illegal labor account for 35% of the American economy.

But this country isn't discussing it, and the hypocrisies, and fallacies in logic, in legislation are costing the country dearly. Did you know Big Tobacco has already copyrighted product names such as Chronic and Purple Haze, waiting for the day marijuana prohibition is repealed? Or that the United States government does in fact have two marijuana growing centers (one in Hawaii and one in Mississippi) and yet hundreds of thousands of Americans are currently in jail for use, sale, or cultivation?

It would be nice if we can start to govern the country we HAVE, and not the one we think, or wish, we have.

Marijuana can have some good medicinal uses, it can help in the fight against Parkinsons and arthritis.

may be that kan kick start a bit of a revival through pharmaceuticals

Also as an aside over here in the UK. Our engineering and manufacturing industries is pretty much non-existant, likewise is our farming. so our economy is now struggling with only financial services propping it up!!

but in the UK cannabis/marijuana is now 80% stronger than it was a decade a go. And due to tighter border controls and customs, a similar percentage is now produced within the UK itself!

with all our other industries shot to shit, it's weirldy comforting to find out we are getting something right :P
