EPIC FU once a week or twice a week? looking for your feedback!

The MIX community is always the first and best place Zadi and I can go to get feedback about the show.

Recently we've been talking about ways we can make Tuesday and Thursday shows different enough from each other that it's easy to recognize what will be on each day. For example, right now we do the Artist of the Week on Tuesday and the FU of the Week on Thursday.

But in discussing more ways to differentiate the days, we were looking at some of the viewership numbers around the two shows. Tuesday shows get as many views as Thursday shows, even though Thursday shows are actually up for twice as long (4 days versus 2 days for Tuesday).

This got us thinking -- would it be better to create one show per week and just pack it full of all the stuff we do on both days?

It wouldn't look that different from what we do now, but it would be longer. We'd be able to do more news, spend a little more time with our interviews, and have both an Artist of the Week and a FU of the Week, play flash games, do Campfires, the works.

What do you guys think? Is a once-a-week 9-10 minute show better than twice a week for 5-6 minutes each? Which would you prefer and why?

It couldn't hurt to experiment could it?

Perhaps you could try a 10 minute show for one week, just to see how it goes. After all, it's hard to decide between two things if one of them hasn't yet been experienced (at least for me)

If it goes well, and feedback is good, you could think about implementing it regularly.. and if it doesn't go well, you could revert back to the two shows a week format. Either way, you didn't have to commit for more than 1 week's worth of content, AND you'll know which of the two you should commit to =)

That's true. Although don't forget we've done once a week for well over a year prior to the June relaunch. We have a pretty good idea of what that was like.

I think we're running into the idea that twice a week just seems a little odd. Daily is fine, weekly is fine, even Monday-Wednesday-Friday makes sense. Twice a week is starting to seem a little bit like one of the days is orphaned.

Also, it seems like a lot of people are not even aware we're putting up two shows a week! :D

I'm glad to be seeing two shows a week. EpicFu is high on the priority list in my book. Steve.... EpicFu is the best thing since "The Broken." Its better than The Broken. EpicFu is the ultimate in geek entertainment. Please I want as much EpicFu in one week as I can possibly get.

MORE EPICFU!

I prefer the current setup a bit more than a longer show.

1. Short format satisfies my ADD, but also keeps me interested. What will they do next? Plus, I tend to re-watch shorter shows vs. longer shows since I occasionally miss stuff.

2. Shorter wait time makes me happy. Waiting once per week for an episode kinda sucks and it's part of why I don't watch many other Revision3 shows on a regular basis.

3. Twice per week seems to let more Mix content through to the program, or at least it seems like it does.

4. Epic Fu is a high point of my day at least twice per week. If I didn't have two days of Fu per week... Do you know how bored I get? DO YOU?!? :p

I remember the once-a-week show. I started watchin around when you guys had jus taken your little break. I was STARVING for some FU! 2wice a week is good for me. I'm always waiting for the next show. I honestly always want more. Its what keeps me commin back. A Mon, Wed, Fri would be nice but I dont wanna create more work for you guys and cause mental breakdowns. That would jus be BAD.

Ha! Yeah, three times a week wouldn't be doable right now without adding some help.

The main thing is we just want to make the most kick-ass show possible, whether it's once a week or every day. Right now we feel really good about the quality of the two per week that we're doing. We just want to make sure that the Thursday show doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

It's really nice that you guys are doing your show twice a week and I really think we're catching what we've been missing during that 5 months waiting period! (I think it was 5 months)

I've gotten use to two shows a week but it's probably a lot harder on your side releasing two episodes a week!

I'd enjoy one show a week! You've kept your fans entertained and what matters is that you guys take a break from it!

I like it twice a week personally. I like Epic-Fu too much to wait a whole week for it.
I just wish that PopSiren would move back to Wednesday so I'd have a full week of my favorite podcast shows. haha
oh well, guess I'll just have to make do. ;)

What would be cool though if you could do some more... I don't know what to call them... inside looks (?) at different events around the country. Like with the SXSW fest. Maybe get some field correspondents from different cities to check things out.
Of course that wouldn't be all the time, but it would be something new instead of the interviews or something of the sorts. Theadbangers podcast does that a lot. I'd think that Epic-Fu though would have a larger selection of events though.

We'd love to do this. It's tough to find talented, reliable correspondents, though. But we're working on it! We're going to roll out a global college reach-out program where we try to get people who work on their school newspapers or who might be studying media to work with us covering things we wouldn't normally be able to get to.

And we're big fans of Threadbanger! Rob and Corrine rule.

Short format cause it makes a nice break from work

Yeah -- I think if we ever did go to once a week again in a longer format, what you're saying would be the number one complaint.
