Well, first of all, JTW Sao Paulo is an advertising company from Sao Paulo, not an artist, and this piece is part of an advertising campaign for the financial newspaper Gazeta Mercantil. That being said, I'm not denying it's artistic value. I think what it's trying to say is that there's a lot more than people might know to why a certain currency (in this case the dollar) is as valuable as it is. And this print is a collage of all the factors that influence that.

In the company's own words:

"In this print campaign, JWT Sao Paulo shows that the newspaper makes deeper analyses of the financial market and informs readers on political and social events exercising influence on the world economy. On Dollar, Euro and Yen notes, some of the most important events of the last century."

Yeah you got me on the Artist part.. good catch. That's what i get for posting while at work.

Yes, I know what the companies statement is but I was more interested in what the reaction was to the piece itself. After viewing how does it make you feel?

Yeah it definitely gives you that feeling doesn't it. I hope though that American's see it and take note. Although gloomy it shows a road map to how we got were we are. Perhaps then in the same way it can serve as a guide to pull ourselves out of the muck.

i think it means exactly what is being said underneath: understand the real value of money!!

There's a Marijuana Leaf in the top right. Just throwing it out there;
The Funny thing is.. the Leaves of the plant are NOT what make the money.. Maybe commenting on how an image can be sold.
