me and my friend were talking about this and i would like your in input. what are your thoughts on God? does he exist? does he not? and most of all is it possible to believe in God to a point. let me know what you think.
eh, i also think teaching intelligent design is ridiculous, and so is evolution, they both have gaping holes in their logic, but that's probly a whole different post.
Theres this one religion that was made up in the 50s i think, the church of bob, where they worship some door to door salesman...crazy.
wow just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has participated in this discussion i enjoy all your input and since i dont have enough time to thank you all individually i want to thank you all now and hope you keep adding input to this, really never ending, discussion
I'd be more fearful from a christian religious person than from an atheist, agnostic or pastafarian.
Leaving aside the sociopaths, you're more likely to find intolerance in a god fearin' man that leaves his thinking to the local priest, than in a person that has chosen [athe|agnostic|pastafarian]ism.
About pastafarianism: yes, it was a originally a mockery to fight against intelligent design, based on two arguments:
1) you can teach 0 scientific theories about the origin of species at school, or you can teach one, but two is an impossible number, because once you can have two, you can't argue against 3, and then 4 seems the politically correct conclusion, and then n, ad infinitum.
2) Intelligent design's logics are flawed, "if you can't disproof a, then a is correct" is a fallacious and wrongful argument with no logic (see why i say basic logic MUST be taught at schools?). The second and sadly most common argument is "since i can't comprehend b, then b is false and z is correct", which is yet another fail of reasoning.
Funniest thing about pastafarianism: it has grown out from being an open letter against intelligent design to become a group of people smart enough not to take dogma seriously, and wise enough to laugh about it. Oddly enough, it is closer to what a religion should do and be about than most established and serious orthodox religion.
We have a serious problem people: we've dressed the invisible man with clothes of scripture and dogma to see him, but we see not the invisible man, we see the clothes.
"We have a serious problem people: we've dressed the invisible man with clothes of scripture and dogma to see him, but we see not the invisible man, we see the clothes."
this is so true, and we'd be much better off without the dogma. some of the clothes are pretty fascinating.
